Study Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to determine how often an EpiPen is prescribed and used for children diagnosed with uritcaria pigmentosa.  Addditionally this study will determine what type of systemic reactions children with urticaria pigmentosa experience and what risk factors are related to serious reactions for patients with UP in order to recommend when and EpiPen should be prescribed.

 

Study Summary:

Charts from patients diagnosed with UP and seen at Phoenix Children's Hospital will be identified from billing codes.  Their charts will be reviewed by the research team to see what type of systemic reactions they have experienced with their disease and if they have been given an EpiPen and if they ever have used it.  Determination on if a relationship exists between risk factors, evidence of severe reactions and use of the EpiPens.  Parents or patients over 18 will be called based on last available contact information, to update information that is not available in the chart to determine if and when their condition resolved.

 

Basic Eligibility Criteria:

All patients diagnosed with UP from birth to age 17 at Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) from 1 January 2012- 1 March 2017 based on billing codes.
