Our Research Areas
Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital is a leader in the study and treatment of pediatric neurological disorders and their treatment. Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital offers pediatric neurosurgery, neurology, psychology, psychiatry, developmental pediatrics and rehabilitation in a single location and is committed to being at the forefront of research, providing patients with the latest and best treatments available.
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is the largest pediatric program of its kind in Arizona. The Center is committed to providing patients with the best possible care and constantly seeks to be at the forefront of pediatric malignancy and hematologic disorder research. There are currently more than 70 clinical trials offer through the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders for patients with leukemias, lymphomas, solid tumors, brain tumors and rare diseases.
The Children’s Heart Center is the premier pediatric cardiac referral center in the Southwest and the fifth largest program of its kind in the country. It is home to a state of the art cardiac catheterization laboratory and is the only location offering pediatric “hybrid” procedures in the Southwest. Heart Center researchers are working on the leading edge of bioengineering and cardiac imaging technologies to provide patients and families with the most advanced and technologically-sophisticated treatment options.
The Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level IIIc nursery offering the level of neonatal care in Arizona. This leading edge treatment and research program was developed to care for infants who have experienced birth-related brain injury and limits the devastating and dangerous chemical cascade that follows.
The Center for Pediatric Orthopedics offers state-of-the-art treatment for pediatric patients suffering from musculoskeletal injuries, related diseases and conditions, including bone fractures, sports-related injuries, hip disorders, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spinal deformities and a variety of other musculoskeletal conditions. The Center is committed to conducting leading edge pediatric orthopedic research to consistently offer patients the best possible options for care.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s ACS-verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center is the premier site for the evaluation, research, stabilization, treatment and care of children who have experienced a traumatic injury in Arizona. The Center is committed to the study and implementation of cutting edge research and treatment options for the unique needs associated with a pediatric population in a trauma-setting.
